Hello Bluff Creek Families! We are winding the year down with many exciting activities, so please make sure you check the calendar included in this issue for events that impact your child. NWEA MAP Tests- Students in grades K-5 at Bluff Creek will be participating in the NWEA (Northwest Educational Associates) MAP assessments. These achievement assessments will be administered on Chromebooks between April 29th and May 24th. Principal’s Letter… Hello Bluff Creek Families! As April winds down and we begin the very busy month of May, you will find that we are completing make-up tests for MCA Reading and Math and preparing our fifth graders for the MCA Science test. Parenting 112 – From Cabin Fever to Spring Fever

FROM CABIN FEVER, TO SPRING FEVER…FINISHING STRONG! Spring Break has come and gone, the days are longer and the weather is warming up (well sort of). Spring Break usually marks the final stretch of the school year and it can be a challenge for kids to stay focused on school with warmer temperatures, spring sports and more daylight to play outside longer. But the remaining month of school is extremely important.  In the next few months our children will be learning important subject content required for successful grade completion and perhaps participating in performances and programs.  In addition, they will be preparing to take state tests that evaluate our schools and standardized tests that assess individual student academic performance which is often used to assist in placement decisions for the next school year, so finishing this school year strong will prepare them for success next year. As I meet with our second graders this spring, it is amazing to see how ready they are to become third graders during the 2019-2020 school year. As parents/guardians of our second graders I thought I would let you know about options available to your child for their third grade experience: Option #1- Your child will be assigned to one of three third grade classrooms- Parent input forms are available until 4/18, but I will accept these until Tuesday 4/30. Option #2 – Your child can complete an interest form for the 3-4-5 Family. Information about this learning model is attached to this notice.
